Yass Showground Facilities
The Yass Showground is private property, owned by the Yass Show Society and managed by its volunteers.
Yass Show Society Members
Members are able to use the grounds throughout the year. The Secretary must be contacted for prior approval (see details on Contact us), this is to ensure there are no conflicts of activities, we are covered by insurance and any risks are managed. Membership is available all year round.
General Public
Due to insurance requirements, for members of the general public to use the grounds, they must either be members of the Yass Show Society or hire the grounds. Either way, the Secretary must be notified, preferably by email, if the grounds are going to be used. This will ensure there are no conflicts of activities and any risks are managed.
Stables and Yards
Casual hire of stables/covered yards is also available at a cost of $15/night. Participants of horse events must book stables/covered yards as per the conditions of entry for that event. This is usually done by emailing the Yass Show Society Secretary.
Events
The Showground or parts thereof are able to be hired for events and functions. Please contact the Secretary with form below to enquire or request a booking.
Commercial operators
Commercial operators, such as farriers, vets etc, are required to hire the Showground to undertake any professional activities on the Showground. Hirers of the grounds must have $20m public liability insurance.
Drones and Remote Vehicles
The use of remote control devices, such as drones, cars etc, is not permitted unless grounds are hired for that specific purpose and insurances provided. The hitting of golf balls and use of metal detectors on the grounds is not permitted.
Metal Detecting
No metal detecting is allowed on the Yass Showground.
Camping
Camping is available at the Yass Showground.
Stables
Stables and Covered yards are available for hire on the Yass Showgrounds
$15/night per horse
Round House Pavillion
The historic Round House pavilion was built in 1902 and has since had extensions added. The Bruce Merriman Pavilion is the most substantial of these, situated behind the Round House and connected with a double doorway. These pavilions are suitable to hire for functions, with a servery kitchen and bathroom facilities available.
Rodeo Arena
Commonly used for the Yass Rodeo (typically held in November) along with Team Penning and Team Sorting weekends.
Equestrian Arenas
Yass Showgrounds is home to various equestrian arenas including grass arenas, sand arenas and purpose built dressage arenas.
Main Arena
The main arena of the Yass Showgrounds is a great space to host large events, commonly used previously for regular car boot sales, swap meets etc.
The Grandstand
Currently under restoration but soon to be the newest and most improved space on the Yass Showgrounds, the "dining room" under the grandstand can be your new meeting space. Keep updated below:
Dog Arena
The Dog Show arena of the Yass Showgrounds is maintained and available for use throughout the year.
